I’m really sorry for the late email. The next meeting on this Monday (29th) at 7pm in the Union Lounge (2nd floor of Student Union).
In the last meeting we formed groups and discussed promotion, fundraising and other ideas for WHQ club night and World AIDS Day! New ideas are always welcome.
WHQ club night (28th Nov)
We have decided to promote the night 2 weeks in advance.
Promotion
- Posters (Medical School, Union, Halls of Residence and other academic departments)
- Hand out flyers
- Shout outs in Lectures (we need to cover as many departments as possible)
- Column in student newspaper
- Organise Facebook group
- Sell tickets and give out wrist bands
Ideas for the night and fundraising
- Need people to man stalls selling glow sticks, hoodies, whistles
- Condom fairies to give out free condoms — if anyone wants to do this please let us know
- People to carry collection tins
- Red theme
- Entry before 11.30pm gets free vodka jelly
- Organise bar crawl
- Promotion on drinks
- Music bands for the night
World AIDS Day (1st Dec)
Events will be carried out during the week before World AIDS Day.
Promotion
- Column in university newspaper
- Posters
- Department emails
- Separate posters for the balloon race
- Shout outs in lectures
- Posters in schools
- Announcement on Metro Radio and possible interview
- Flyers with free DVD
Fundraising
- Cake stalls — any good bakers out there, we need you!
- Film night including popcorn and soft drinks
- Games including guess the number of condoms in a container
We also need people to speak to organisations and businesses to see what freebies they will offer that we can use these as prizes. Hopefully, everyone knows what they are doing and have a scheduled timetable. Don’t worry if you don’t, just get involved with any of the things discussed above or add new ideas.
