New Year

Dear Stop AIDS…

Firstly, a huge welcome to all our new freshers! We hope that you enjoy being part of Stop AIDS… we’ve got a pretty eventful year lined up ahead!

  1. Introduction Night/Social

We are holding an Introductory Night on Monday 6th October at 6pm in the Union. You can find out about our Schools Project, an exciting project in Uganda, and many more ways to get involved with the society… afterwards we plan to head to Trent House for a few drinks.

  2. Registration for Newcastle Stop AIDS

PLEASE join Newcastle Stop AIDS through the Union Society website and follow the links through Activities and AU, Clubs and Societies Registration, and Log In. The smallest registration fee that the Union Society allows us to charge is £5, which is used for lots of things including:

    • Publicity, posters etc.
    • Campaigning
    • Prizes
    • Supporting charities
    • Events, with FREE food and drinks
    • FREE film nights

For every member that registers and pays £5 by October 13th, the Union gives us another £7… so please sign up a.s.a.p.!

  3. Speaker Night

On Tuesday 14th October the 2008 Unite to Fight Speaker Tour is coming to Newcastle’s Hyena Comedy Club, bringing together young AIDS activists from Zambia, Ireland, Uganda and the USA. The speakers will share their powerful personal experiences of HIV and their roles in the fight to achieve universal access by 2010. This will be an incredible chance to get more informed, more involved and more inspired to Unite to Fight HIV. For more information see the Speaker Tour 2008 website.

That’s all for now! Hope to see as many of you as possible on Monday — old faces as well as new!
